  14.        ps2pdf  converts the PostScript file input.ps to the Adobe
  15.        Portable Document Format (PDF) in output.pdf.  ps2pdf uses
  16.        gs(1).  See /usr/local/lib/ghostscript/M.N/doc/use.doc for
  17.        more details, where M.N is the Ghostscript version number.

  19.        Currently  ps2pdf  does a reasonable job on filled/stroked
  20.        graphics, on bitmap images, and on text in the 14 built-in
  21.        PDF  fonts  in the intersection of Windows and ISO Latin-1
  22.        encodings.  It converts all other text in  the  PostScript
  23.        file  to  bitmaps  in  the PDF file (although it does only
  24.        write the bitmap for each character  once  per  page,  and
  25.        only  on  pages where the character is actually used).  It
  26.        does not compress the output at all, except for  character
  27.        bitmaps:  it  can't  use  LZW  because  of  Unisys' patent
  28.        claims, and it doesn't yet use other  compression  methods
  29.        for images.
